Ahh yes, Sessanta, the celebration of the 60th. It’s something I’m quickly headed towards, so I don’t like to think about it. But I hope I can celebrate it the way Maynard James Keenan celebrated his 60th year of birth, on Friday night. Maynard had his friends from A Perfect Circle, Primus, and Puscifer all on stage hanging out and jamming. A big-time Generation X wow factor of a music performance.

And this deity is named Tool. I’m just going to get to the meat and potatoes because anyone that reads this has probably seen Tool live. And if you haven’t seen Tool, well your loss.

Josh and the Jet Noise released their debut album Alright last night at Lola’s Saloon in Fort Worth. The three piece made up of Josh Reed (vocals/guitar), Matt Thomas (Bass), and Chris Grucza (Drums) ripped through material from the album and few extra tracks that will be on their next release. JATJN were supported by Mean Motor Scooter (also pictured), Professor Fuzz 63, and Bruce Magnus.

If there are two perfect matched bands to be on an early summer bill, Mastodon and Primus would be it. These two great bands played on Thursday night at the South Side Ballroom in Dallas, Texas. There was a third band that opened called, All Them Witches, but a stalled El Camino with a sweet wolf sunset decal on the tailgate kept us from getting to the venue in time for them.
