Crosses made a stop at House of Blues on Wednesday night on their Familiar World Tour. This tour Is in support of their latest album Goodnight, God Bless, I Love You, Delete which was released last October. For those unfamiliar with Crosses it is the side project Deftones singer Chino Moreno and Far guitarist Shaun Lopez. Unlike the Deftones though, Moreno describes Crosses as "minimal and soothing and it's sort of like the stuff I like listening to when I'm not screaming my head off."

The walls of Tannahill's reverberated with raw energy and electrifying riffs as Periphery took the stage for night two of an epic double night of shows in DFW. The first night commenced at The Echo Lounge in Dallas, and the final evening was at Tannahill's in Fort Worth. The progressive metal band, known for their technical prowess and dynamic soundscapes, delivered a performance that left the audience in awe with two completely different and stunning sets. It seems more and more bands are doing this these days, and I'm not gonna lie, I'm kinda loving it!

The Music Hall at Fair Park transformed into a kaleidoscopic wonderland on November 9th as The Flaming Lips took the stage for a mind-bending journey through their eclectic musical universe. Bring Me The Horizon stopped by Southside Ballroom Friday night on their "First Love" tour, filling the mid-sized room with an arena-sized rock show. But the big question on everyone's mind was will the change into a more pop alternative sound across the last couple of albums keep Bring Me The Horizon from bringing the heavy that they are known for live? Would they even play any of their heavy material?

Queens of the Stone age swung through Dallas for the first time in five years in support their latest album Villains. In an era of bands playing to synced video back drops and lights, the stage set up was pretty basic, with just a few flexible LED poles placed strategically around the stage. Having a stripped down setup like this allows for the band to change up their setlist from night to night. While the majority of the songs on the setlist came from from Villains, the eighteen song set covered the entire catalog, including the fan requested Mexicola. As a fan that has seen them on eight separate occasions, I will say this wasn't my favorite set of songs they have done, but that just makes me want to catch them somewhere else this summer.

A band, a field, smoke, and a raw approach. A simple concept drawn on a bar napkin turned into the image above. And Henry the Archer was the perfect band to accomplish it.
Henry the Archer is the brain child of native New Jersey boy Richard Hennessy. Last year Richard was given the opportunity to transfer his job down to Fort Worth, Texas, so he made his way down south with the hopes of keeping Henry the Archer alive. Shortly after arriving he joined forces with Kevin Geist on drums, and Matt Hembree on bass to round out a three piece of post punk and sex pop.

993.... I was a young angst fueled teenager that was obsessed with fast and noisy punk rock music . The louder and faster, the better, but I was also becoming more and more interested in the North Texas music scene. Local radio station, KDGE The Edge would occasionally release a CD entitled Tales From The Edge that would in the end, consist of 11 volumes that were curated by DJ/Music Director George Gimarc. Each volume focused on music and bands from North Texas with a slight dabbling into the Austin music scene.

My goal for SXSW this year was just to go down there, wonder aimlessly, and just see what we happened upon (see yesterday's post here). The only thing we had in stone was making it to The Main Friday night to see The Artery Foundation Showcase featuring A Lot Like Birds, Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!, For The Fallen Dreams, Attila, Woe Is Me, Chelsea Grin and A Skylit Drive.
